General Information

To Catch a Bus

Board a Grays Harbor Transit bus at any marked bus stop. If you are not at a marked bus zone, signal the driver by waving in time for the bus to come to a safe stop. Drivers stop at only designated bus stops between Aberdeen-Hoquiam. Some form of lighting device; flashlight, reflecting tape, etc. will assist the driver in observing passengers waiting for the bus during darkness or inclement weather. 

To Get  Off a Bus

  • Pull the bell cord above the windows.
  • Please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
  • At crowded stops, used rear exit door.
  • For your safety, use handrails.
  • After exiting the bus, NEVER cross the street in front of the bus, always wait until the bus has pulled away and you can safely see if it is clear to cross the street.
Bus Rider Rules
For the safety and comfort of all our riders, please observe the following guidelines:
  1. Shirts and shoes are required.
  2. State law prohibits smoking on the bus, this includes all electronic cigarettes.
  3. Take a seat immediately after boarding the bus and stay seated at all times.
  4. Eating, drinking or playing music or electronic devices without headphones is not allowed on the bus.
  5. Keep feet and carry-on items out of the aisle. Pets, other than service animals used to assist persons with disabilities, must be in cages. Service animals are allowed only on the floor, not on seats.
  6. Children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult or older child.
  7. No profanity or rude behavior on the bus.
  8. Bicycles are to be loaded in the bike racks only.
  9. Rollerblades, roller skates, and skateboards must be carried onboard.
  10. Place your exact fare in the farebox next to the driver. Our drivers do not handle fares and cannot make change.
  11. The first few seats are reserved for the elderly and riders with mobility impairments. Passengers seated in these areas are urged to give up their seats when requested.
  12. Passengers using wheelchairs board through the front door on all fixed route buses. The bus can be lowered or a ramp deployed for passengers who have difficulty boarding.
  13. When the bus is approaching your destination, pull the stop request cord located above the windows to let the driver know you wish to get off. All passengers are encouraged to exit through the rear doors.
  14. After exiting the bus, wait for it to leave before crossing the street so that you can see and be seen by traffic. For your safety, do not cross in front of the bus.
Bicycles
All buses have bike racks for two bicycles on the front. If the bike is full, please wait for the next bus. Bicycles are not allowed inside buses or vans, except folding bikes.

Conventional, single seat, two wheeled bicycles and electric bikes the size of a standard bicycle will fit on the bike rack. Bicycles with oversized wheels, tandem and internal combustion motor-powered bicycles cannot be accommodated.
To use the Bike Rack for your Bicycle
Passenger is responsible for loading, securing and removing bicycles on the rack. Drivers cannot help with loading or unloading. To use the bike rack,
  • Remove items such as bike pumps, bags, helmets, and water bottles
  • Tell the driver you want to use the bike rack
  • Allow exiting passengers with bicycles to unload first, then load your bike
To Load your Bike:
  • Squeeze and pull up on bike rack handle to release folded rack,
  • Lower rack until it clicks into place,
  • Lift bike onto rack, fitting front wheel into slot labeled "front",
  • Pull out and raise support arm over top of front tire, positioning it as high on tire as possible,
  • Do not lock bike to rack
To Unload your Bike:
  • Exit through the front door and tell the driver that you will be unloading your bike,
  • Raise support arm up and off bike's front tire,
  • Lift and remove bike from rack,
  • If no other bikes are on the rack, fold and secure rack into upright position,
  • Move to the curb quickly, always wait until the vehicle pulls away before crossing the street. Never cross in front of the bus

Lost and Found
All lost and found items are turned into the Maintenance & Operations Office at 705 30th Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
